Marketing Strategy & Roadmap
A marketing plan you could hand to anyone and they would know what to do.
A fixed-price project, not a retainer. Research, positioning, channel strategy and a sequenced roadmap, delivered as documents you own. From $4,950, starting in three weeks.
The problem
Most marketing strategies are a deck nobody opens twice.
They describe the market, restate what you already know, and end with a list of tactics that could apply to any company in your industry. There is no sequence, no budget model, no way to tell whether month four went well or badly.
A usable strategy answers four questions: who exactly we are selling to, what we say to them, which channels we run and in what order, and what we expect each to return. Everything else is context.
Deliverables
Six documents, and what each one is for.
Every project produces the same artefacts. The depth of research behind them is what changes between tiers.
01
Market and competitor research
What your competitors claim, where they are weak, what the market already believes, and the gap you can credibly own.
02
ICP and segment definition
Who buys, who does not, what triggers the search, and which segments deserve budget first.
03
Messaging framework
Your positioning statement, value propositions per segment, proof points and the objections you need to answer.
04
Channel strategy
Which channels, in what order, with what role. Includes channels we recommend you stop.
05
Budget and performance model
What to spend by channel and the return to expect, so you can tell month four from month nine.
06
Sequenced roadmap
A 90-day or twelve-month plan with owners, dependencies and checkpoints. The document the rest of the work runs from.
The roadmap
Sequenced, not a wish list.
Marketing fails more often from doing the right things in the wrong order than from picking wrong channels. The roadmap sets what runs when, what depends on what, and where the checkpoints sit.
Process
Four stages, fixed timeline.
Three weeks for a Sprint, six for the full roadmap, ten for a go-to-market programme. Dates agreed at kickoff.
01
Kickoff and access
A working session with you and anyone who owns a piece of marketing, plus read access to analytics, CRM and ad accounts.
02
Research
Competitor and market analysis, customer and sales interviews, and a review of what your own data already shows.
03
Drafting
Positioning, messaging, channel plan and budget model drafted, then walked through with you before anything is finalised.
04
Handover
Final documents delivered with a working session so the team understands the plan rather than receiving a file.
Scope boundary
Strategy, not implementation.
This is where strategy projects usually go wrong. The scope drifts, the agency ends up half-executing, and neither side is clear what was bought.
So the line is drawn explicitly. The project delivers research, decisions and a plan. Building the pages, running the campaigns and producing the content is scoped separately, whether you do it in-house, with your existing agencies, or with marive.
You are never obliged to use us for delivery. Several clients take the roadmap and run it themselves.

Fixed price, fixed scope, fixed date.

What is a marketing strategy and roadmap?
A marketing strategy defines who you sell to, what you say, which channels you use and what each should return. The roadmap sequences that into a dated plan with owners and checkpoints. Together they are the document the rest of your marketing runs from.
How much does a marketing strategy cost?
Digital strategy projects typically run $10,000 to $49,999 according to Clutch data, with narrower go-to-market work from $5,000. marive publishes three fixed prices: $4,950 for a three-week Strategy Sprint, $11,950 for the six-week full roadmap, and $24,950 for a ten-week go-to-market programme.
Does the price include implementation?
No, and that is deliberate. The project delivers research, decisions and a plan. Building pages, producing content and running campaigns is scoped separately, so neither side ends up with an unclear boundary. You can implement in-house, with your existing agencies, or with marive.
How is this different from a fractional CMO?
A strategy project is finite and produces documents you own. A fractional CMO is ongoing and takes responsibility for running the plan and directing the team month after month. Many companies buy the project first, then decide whether they need the ongoing leadership.
What do you need from us?
A kickoff session, read access to analytics, CRM and ad accounts, and access to two or three customers and someone from sales for interviews. Roughly four to six hours of your team time across the project.
What if we disagree with the strategy?
The draft is walked through with you before anything is finalised, precisely so disagreements surface while they can still be resolved. The plan has to be one your team will actually run, and that requires argument during drafting rather than polite acceptance at handover.
Can you work with our existing agencies?
Yes. The roadmap is written to be executed by whoever is best placed, including agencies you already use. Where current arrangements are not working, the strategy will say so plainly.
